South Carolina Permit Practice Test

The South Carolina DMV allows for minors as young as 15 to earn a beginner’s permit so that they may begin to practice driving under the supervision of an adult.

Parental consent is also necessary for the minor to apply and take the practice permit test for South Carolina.  The beginner’s permit allows the minor to practice driving between 6am to midnight with any licensed adult over 21 and the parent or guardian only any time after midnight.  Anyone applying for a license or permit must present identification that validates name and date of birth, social security number and citizenship or legal residency.

The Driver’s License manual will be your resource for passing the practice permit test for South Carolina.  All of the information you need to know to pass the test will be contained in this publication and you may download the manual in for or by chapter at the SC DMV website.  Detailed diagrams will also demonstrate to drivers the proper position and form necessary when taking the road test.  Knowledge tests may be taken only once a day and failure will cause the applicant to be deferred for 24 hours.
